Director’s Statement ATOM is the story of right now. It’s a portrait of an era in time - a feeling in the air. What was it like to be alive in 2024?

To wake up with your AirPods still on - to have the only knock at your door be your DoorDash delivery. What did love look like inside the prefab domiciles and glass highrises that scraped the clouds? How truly connected was the interconnected world that tomorrow promised?

ATOM offers audiences a new vision of the present moment, not through a singular experience, but through the inclusion of a variety of characters - varied in age, culture, gender, sexuality, and more. It aims not to judge, but to reflect - to represent the trials of a generation trying their hardest to reconcile an increasingly alienating and uncertain future.

Audience
ATOM’s ensemble structure offers the unique opportunity to transcend traditional demographic barriers and unite an increasingly divided audience. Whether it’s through the story of a man feverishly building his tech startup or a young woman creating content in her apartment, the film’s diverse tapestry of characters serves as inroads to the multitude of submarkets that make-up today’s varied mass audience.

This approach ties into the heart of the film. ATOM’s goal is to unify. Through its diverse tapestry of characters lies the opportunity for empathy - for fragmented audiences to enter the world through a character they feel a kinship with, but leave with a connection to those they differ from.
